6 Animal Reiki Tips for Beginners 🐾

If you're just starting your Animal Reiki journey, here are some simple yet powerful tips to help you create a peaceful and effective healing space for your animal companions. 🐶🐱🐴

🌟 Remember: Reiki is all about connection, trust, and intuition. Let the animal guide the session, and approach it with an open mind. 💜

1. 🤝 It’s a Partnership

Every session will be different based on the animal’s needs. Reiki is a partnership between you and the animal, and they should have complete control over how the session progresses. 🐾

✅ Respect their comfort 🛋️
✅ Observe their reactions and body language 👀
✅ Trust your intuition to guide the session ✨

2. 🏡 Environment Matters

Animals feel safest in familiar surroundings. Choose a calm, quiet space where they naturally relax. 💤

✅ Let them stay in their favourite chair, basket, or bed 🐕
✅ Avoid loud noises or distractions 🔇
✅ Keep the energy peaceful and grounded 🌿

3. ⏳ Timing Matters

Animals are creatures of habit and can become too focused or excited if it’s mealtime or walk time. 🐕🚶

✅ Offer Reiki when they are most relaxed
✅ After a walk or playtime is often ideal 🐾
✅ If they approach you for cuddles, it’s a great time to begin! 💛

4. 👀Watch for Cues

Animals communicate through body language and energy, so it’s important to stay present and observe their reactions during a Reiki session. 🐾

✅ If they relax, yawn, or sigh, they’re enjoying the energy 😌
✅ If they move away, respect their space and allow them to return when ready 🚶‍♂️
✅ Some animals may become sleepy or deeply relaxed, which is a great sign! 😴

✨ Trust their instincts—they know exactly how much Reiki they need! You will come to notice the tell-tell signs that they are accepting Reiki, such as relaxed eyes and ears💜

5.⏳ When it's time to Finish

Animals will often let you know when the session is complete. Watch for cues like:

✅ Getting up and walking away 🚶‍♂️
✅ Shaking their body or stretching 🐕
✅ Becoming more alert or playful 🎾

If they seem content and settled, you can gently close the session by thanking them and letting them rest. 💜

6.⏳ Hands on Reiki is not always appropriate or safe

Not all animals are comfortable with physical touch during a Reiki session. Always let them choose! 🐾

✅ For sensitive or nervous animals, offer Reiki from a short distance instead 📏
✅ Wild or unfamiliar animals may prefer distant Reiki 🌍
✅ Respect boundaries—Reiki works just as powerfully without direct contact ✨

The key is trust and consent—let the animal lead the way! 💜

✨ Most importantly—let go of expectations! Reiki always flows where it’s needed. Trust the process, and enjoy this special bonding time with your animal friend.

Here is some feedback we had just last week from the programme:

"Thank you for this course! I'm Reiki 3 since 2018 and though I didn't really 'need' it to work with animals, I did find it very helpful, engaging, informational, and insightful... so I guess I did 'need' it after all! 🤗🤗🤗 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"

– Debbie Sherrell

"I gained profound insights beyond what I had already learned in-person. Looking forward to deepening my practice with both people and our animal friends!"
