Why Reiki Practitioners Need Grounding Just as Much as Their Clients
❔Member Question: I sometimes feel a bit tired and notice temperature changes in my own body, feeling hot and cold alternately. I’m wondering if this is a normal part of the process or if I should adjust the way I ground or protect my energy before and after sessions?
🔥 Feeling Tired, Hot, or Cold After Reiki Sessions
The sensations described above; feeling hot or cold, or occasionally tired after a Reiki session, are quite common. As you channel Reiki, your energy system is working at a higher vibration, and your physical body is adjusting to that energetic exchange. These temperature changes often occur when energy is moving through blockages, releasing stagnant energy, or when your body is simply rebalancing after transmitting Reiki.
Feeling tired can sometimes mean that you’ve given more energy from your own reserves rather than purely channelling Reiki, something that can happen as your sensitivity increases. The key is to strengthen your energetic hygiene and grounding routine:
Here are a few supportive practices you can incorporate:
- Ground yourself before and after each session.
- Set a clear intention before the Reiki session.
- Cleanse and close your energy after each Reiki session.
- Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and take time out to rest when you need to.
As your practice deepens, these sensations usually settle, and you’ll find your body naturally adapts to the rhythm of energy work.
These experiences show that your awareness and connection with Reiki are expanding in exactly the way they’re meant to. Continue to trust the process, nurture your own energy, and allow Reiki to be your guide; it will always lead you to the lessons and insights you’re ready to receive.
